Tina Miller - Director

My name is Mrs. Tina Miller and I am the Director at The Jenkins School. I graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and received my PA Director’s Credential from Keystone College. Over the

past ten years I have held both teacher and director positions.

My husband and I live in Washington Boro with our dog and cat. We also have two adult children, one who lives on their own and the other who is in college. When I am at home I enjoy having the family together, reading, trying DIY projects, and collecting koala bears.

I am very excited to begin this school year with you as we work together and cultivate a love of learning.

Lynne Bertz - Teacher, Art and Music

I am the Art and Music teacher at Jenkins. I am a graduate of Millersville University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, and I have been teaching for over 10 years. I started teaching music at Jenkins in 2010, and excitedly began teaching art in 2011. I love encouraging my students to explore self-expression through creativity and hands-on learning. During the school year I look forward to MusicFest, our all school music performance and Evening of the Arts, where we display over twenty amazing art pieces from each student.

My three children are former, current and future students of Jenkins and love helping Mom try new activities for the classroom. I also love to read, travel with my family and play and teach stringed instruments.

Joanna Loewenstein - Teacher, Pre-K

My name is Joanna Loewenstein, but my favorite people call me Miss L.! I am thrilled to be teaching Pre-K at The Jenkins School as of this August 2020! I have my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Special Education from Elizabethtown College. My Master's degree is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Children's Literature from the Pennsylvania State University. I have years of experience as a lead preschool teacher in a private academic school setting. I also have planned and implemented an extended day program for 3-5 year old children and possess summer camp experience with 3-6 year olds. In addition to teaching, I have done children's programming for toddlers up to early elementary aged children in a public library setting. I am passionate about teaching young children and early literacy!

A former Jersey girl, I came to this part of Pennsylvania for college, fell in love with the area, and never left! My boyfriend was born and raised here in Lancaster County and we enjoy visiting Lancaster City and the surrounding countryside, in addition to taking road trips. I am close to my parents, now retired to the Lancaster area, and my sister. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy time with family and friends, as well as partaking in many hobbies. I love books, music, art, writing, decorating, all things vintage, and exploring the local culinary scene. I also enjoy animals and so appreciate seeing the farm animals in this area. I look forward to getting to know all of you!
